Australian Citizenship waiting period

Hi All,

I have applied for Australian citizenship by conferral on 23/Oct/2017 and waiting for the department to respond. Have anybody facing the same situation as mine. How long will it take the dept to call us for the citizenship test followed by ceremony.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
RS

Dear All,

I have submitted my wife's Indian PCC application via post at Sydney VFS. The process is extremely slow, and I am starting to worry what is the issue here.

Express Post Confirmed - 03 June 24
After much chasing via emails - application acknowledged - 12 June 24

Since then - the only status message I see daily is - PCC application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate.

Its already been 3 weeks since 'submission by VFS'. When will it reach something like 'Under police verification or something similar' - as many of you have mentioned in earlier posts here.

I shot another email to the VFS help mail. But what else can I do to expedite.

Thanks in advance.

You can do nothing else

How y'all doing?

I applied for my citizenship on 22 November 2023 and ed the test on 19 August 2024. Haven't heard anything back from DHA so I'm getting a little anxious - anyone know if this is unusual for the approval to take so long? I already ed my updated AFP (it expired last month).

Council - City of Perth

Can some one Pls help when can I expect approval for Australian Citizenship ?

Pls help.

Hi All,

I have been asked for more info from DOHA today about Police Clearance/Character certificate from KSA/Saudi Arabia. I have checked the online process to get the PCC from KSA. We can get it from Absher but the issue is that I can't access Absher as it requires OTP on the Saudi Mobile number which of course I don't have. Is there anyone here in this group who recently applied for KSA PCC. If yes, I would greatly appreciate for any assistance.

My timeline
Application Submitted: 10 May 2024
Actual Test : 14 Aug 2024
Request for Information : 16 November 2024

Thanks

Hi all,

Just trying to undesttand the dates here
I have lodged my and my wifes application on 19th of August 2024 and we have yet to receive any email regarding an appointment or a test date. Is this normal?

Only thing that comes to my mind is that I have an overseas trip planned during Christmas, which I already disclosed in the application.

TIA

From Which city have you applied ?

What additional documents should I attach for my Australian citizenship by conferral application?
Hi everyone,
I’ve successfully submitted my application for Australian citizenship by conferral and was advised to scan and attach original documents. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
  • I’ve attached my daughter's birth certificate as evidence of her identity.
  • I’ve also included a port for my daughters, as they are under 18 and are part of my application.
However, the instructions still mention attaching "evidence of identity for any children included in the application" and "evidence to the applicant's claims."
What other documents might I need to provide? Have I missed anything critical? Any advice from those who’ve completed this process would be a big help. Thanks!

You would need to attach a NOC from your wife that she has no objection to the children’s application being attached with yours
You can also submit their Medicare cards
Cheers

Hi all, I just enetered and ed the test over the weekend, case officer mentioned that in one part of the application (specifically applicant details section) i have entered my name into the last name and my last name into the first name tab. Anyway, case officer wasnt too concerned about it as i showed other ID proof etc. Anyone reckon i should submit the incorrect answer form for this anyway? Cheers.

You should ASAP
Otherwise your citizenship certificate will also be printed wrongly
The Last name is always capitalised in Australian government documents to clearly identify which is the last name
Cheers

Any one submitted the application in Jan,25 in Syd? I was going through the past posts and it looked like in 2024 test were scheduled pretty past. Any one received test dates for applications submitted in year 2025? I know its just been a month, #justasking.

Hey everyone,
I'm currently completing my Australian citizenship application online and have a question regarding the Australian drivers licence which will be used as an identity document. I have a middle name (i.e. First name: John Middle name: Harry Family name: Smith). However, in my drivers licence (issued in Victoria) the name is stated as "John H Smith" (middle name only has the initial). Will this cause an issue with identity verification since the full middle name is not on the licence ? (I believe this is how Victorian drivers licences are issued unfortunately i.e. only adding the middle initial instead of the full middle name). Do I need to make a statutory declaration for one and same person?

Thank you in advance

Better to use a bank statement or utility bill to avoid issues
Cheers

Most applicants get approved in 2 weeks
If the approval is delayed beyond 2 weeks, it generally means that there is a red flag in your file which needs to be verified

Hey guys, hope you all well! My apologies if some are clarified already, but I did search and go through some of the previous chats. Nevertheless, wanted to clarify once for all...

My situation : I received my PR in Nov 2022. Ever since I received the PR, I never travelled overseas. I intend to travel in another couple of months for a short 3 weeks trip. For now, I am intending to apply for the citizenship as myself and my family are meeting the criteria.

My questions :

1) Overseas PCC - Given that we haven't travelled to overseas and traveling just for 3 weeks this year, should we keep the old PCC... (My personal take: I feel just to avoid any confusions, better apply the fresh one, yet will take your inputs if it's unnecessary)

2) AFP Check - Do we need to apply for Australia AFP check as well? Looks like not required because in Immi site it says they'll apply on our behalf?

3) Birth Certificate - Both myself and my wife doesn't have one, I have my 10th certificate that has DOB...my wife's is still in a trouble as we are searching for the original as she kept at her home in India. Nevertheless, can we both apply for Birth Certificate based on port via VFS? Does it work or did it work for anyone?

1. NO PCC required
2. DHA will get it directly
3. It’s a waste of money as the PCC says it’s based on the port
Cheers

I got my PR in 2023, and then travel back overseas from August to mid October 2023 and then again from mid March 2024 to mid June 2024 and I submitted my citizenship application and then went overseas again from Nov -2024 to Mid may 2025 , after returning I got my test date, so do I need to submit PCC , I did not submitted PCC while applying for citizenship

If it’s required, you will be informed during the pre test interview or by email post the test
Cheers

Hi Guys,

I have a question regarding the response to the question:
"Does this child have another responsible parent who has made a separate application for citizenship?" in the Australian citizenship application.

Currently, I am applying for my spouse's and daughter's Australian citizenship via my Immi. I assume the correct answer to this question would be "No", as I am not applying for my own citizenship at this time. Could you please confirm if this is correct?

Additionally, can I submit the citizenship applications for my family through my Immi even though I am not applying for my own citizenship at the moment?

Best Regards

Mohammed
