Hi,
My wife and I are researching the possibility of moving to Mexico (resident visa) from Europe and buying a RV to explore the country slowly over a few years. We would rent a property for a few months to start with as I know we need a formal address to complete visa requirements etc.

I'm really struggling to find where I can buy a Mexican ed RV from. Any websites?
Does everyone just import them from USA?
From what I've read, this also seems a near impossible option.

Any helpful information appreciated, don't bother with the negative info.

Thanks

@Redrockers -- I live in AZ and we have friends that spend a lot of time, with their RVs, in Mexico, as tourists. As far as I know, they just need "Mexican Insurance." That's the same as we did, before we became MX residents. Since we became residents, we just fly, and rent a vehicle, if needed (we are still trying to pick "our spot.")

My wife and I have "Mexico Temporary Resident" cards. I know, if we travel to Mexico by vehicle, we'll need a "Temporary Importation Permit." From the Denver Consulate: https://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/denver/index.php/non-mexicans/temporary-importation-of-foreign-vehicles . I know a lot of tourist and temporary residents (from the U.S.) get South Dakota Driver's Licenses and plate their cars in SD.

If you become "Permanent" residents, you'll no longer be able to drive a foreign plated vehicle in Mexico. Many just sell their cars and buy replacements in Mexico. If you still want to import a vehicle, be prepared for a time consuming and expensive process, but it can be done. Just like the U.S., there are RV dealers in Mexico -- we've seen plenty, in our travels.

We've met plenty of Europeans in Mexico. We aren't really RVers, but if we were, we'd probably just buy one in Mexico, unless we had our eyes set on a specialist built model (like an Overlander) that would make the importation hassle worthwhile. Here's an article I found on the web, you might find interesting: RVing in Mexico. . Cheers, 255
