I have spent 4 months annually in Puerto Vallarta, MX, for 21 years. About 15 years ago, I opened an at BBVA bank. When we come to PV we would go to the bank show our port and take out what we needed. When at home we would wire transfer money into our . This year I went to the bank and was told that my port wasn’t good enough and I had to have an FM3 card. (They wouldn’t except my drivers’ license or my Global entry card - they said they could be forged…). I don’t have a FM3 card and to get one I’ve been told I need to go the Mexican Consulate in NYC (with an appointment), get a certain piece of paper then take it the the Mexican Consulate and eventually I’ll be given an FM3. As I live in western NYS this isn’t reasonable. Anyone have any thoughts on how to retrieve my monies?

I don’t know if you can do this in Mexico but here in Texas I have checking s in two banks, let’s say bank A and bank B. I can go into my bank A and transfer money from my bank B . Or I can set up Apple Pay with one bank and make payments from there. I understand that Apple Pay was being accepted by BBVA. Good luck.

If you can open an in another bank in Mexico transfer the money to the other bank or using the app on your phone ire the money to your in NY. You cannot dlose the without going to the branch but if you get the money out they will eventually close it down. Can you get the money out with your bank card.. of vourse thay will cost you if you do not do it via one of their ATM in Mexico..

My BBVA card had expired (only good for one year) and I was at the bank to get a new card (which I didn’t use as I always stopped at the bank and just showed my port). I tried to get a card but they refused as I didn’t have a MF3 card. So I went up to the teller and showed her my port and she denied allowing me any money. She wouldn’t accept other forms of proof I’ll try my US bank from which I wired money and see if they can close the and transfer money back to the US.
Thank you.

You set up an and put that banks routing number to collect from. Then you pay bills or send out money from that . you might have to possess a debit card from them but I can’t the details. It’ll cost you nothing to set it up.

The problem is I can’t seem to find my routing number. When I transferred money from my NY it went through a SWIFT number. I can’t transfer it back without the actual routing number. I tried and my bank in the states said they can’t do it. I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I’m hoping I have left some paper work in Puerto Vallarta with a routing number on it. Otherwise I have to go to the Mexican Embassy in NYC (I’m in western NY) with an appointment and get the “card” i need then when I get to PV i have to go somewhere else to get the “card”. PITA!
