Hi, I am a UK ed District Nursing Sister. I would love to move over to the USA (Texas being possibly our first choice or Kentucky) and haven’t a clue where to start! I have looked at so many different agencies - avant- healthcare have stated they do not do have vacancies for home health (District Nursing) and I concerned which agency will! I have seen so many threads on the forum about you going over to the USA and would like some information please about the process you chose, Nursing over USA , did you use a nursing company? I am just so lost and starting to feel like it’s only a dream!
Thank you so much for reading this

The US scene for foreign nurses is complicated - in part because nursing is licensed and regulated at the state level. So perhaps your first stop should be to check the websites of the various state nursing boards to sort out what you need to qualify in that state as a nurse (in whichever specialty you are interested in).

To move from the UK to the USA as a District Nursing Sister, you'll need to obtain a state nursing license, which involves credential evaluation (via CGFNS), ing the NCLEX-RN exam, and proving English proficiency if necessary. Focus on Texas or Kentucky, which are part of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for easier mobility. Consider recruitment agencies like O’Grady Peyton International, MedPro International, or Worldwide HealthStaff Solutions for job placement and visa sponsorship. Apply directly to home health agencies or hospitals in these states. Engage in nursing forums for advice and stay updated on US immigration policies to make your transition smoother.

Hey!
I am in the process of researching only at the moment of immigrating to the USA (Texas, Nevada, Kentucky or Florida) as a UK Nurse.
I am going to apply for my NCLEX soon.
is there any recommended agencies which would recruit and sponsor home health nurses?
I have tried a few however home health is never available.
any advice at all is welcome!

Hello!😀
new here, just thought i would ask where are you up to in this crazy pathway to nursing in the US?
I’m about to start the process with ERES - I’ve got a loose Idea of what is expected so far... kind of prepared. I’m appplying to TXBON

I am currently still researching the process and the possible outcomes. I haven't found alot of positive reviews, however there seems to be a recurring theme about the range of placements improving the chances of getting validated.

I was hoping to speak to someone further along this process given the opaqueness of it all.

Have you found any positive reports?

Hi Ben!

I had a few months off from doing all of this but I'm back on the bandwagon this month... so so..

Emailed the form 101 to my uni in Sheffield I that took time finding the right person.... still waiting to hear back. I just explained what they needed to do. I gave also a brief description of me and why I'm trying to do this etc just so they can kind of understand.

I also included in this brief summary that it's required to have experience in peads/mental health/ mothers whist at university etc and I shaped my placements to incorporate a few hours here and there..... I'm really hoping this will be enough...

Eres also wanted like a statement from NMC so I've got that and now I need my Australian one too so just waiting on that to send.

Just going with the flow really. I'm hopeful. I've met a few lovely nurses online doing similar. And a few successful entries. It really comes down to what your university will document and obviously they won't lie or false the information of course but try include every detail every hour spent whilst on placement in one of those areas can add up and count.
