It uses .gov for logging in.
At mytravel.state.gov you can
1. Do application for "Apply for Consular Report Of Birth Abroad (CRBA)" to get USA citizenship for your child born outside of the USA.
2. Enroll in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for travel alerts
3. Renew port online (I think you need to be in USA to renew online, not sure.)
