Hi... We're looking for a reliable international to help us move from Singapore to New Zealand... Can anyone shed some light or share some experiences? Thanks!

Excess international (Derek) is design with our shipment of household goods plus 2 cars. Very thorough lovely bloke he's been back 3 times to check the actual
Amount going as we kept changing our minds. Their 40 ft high containers have mamaged to squeeze our stuff in. Hope this helps

My advice is check who the shippers use NZ end to transport houshold belongings into your new NZ residence. We had excellent could not be faulted packers and shippers in the UK but the firm they subcontracted to over here were a nightmare. No exaggeration - broke things by literally throwing boxes to each other and pulling stacks down from high in the van made worse by what they were smoking whilst on the job.

Anyone who can provide the name of a good packing and shipping company NZ end would be really valued as we do not want the same experience again. We are moving on again - over to Oz and from our last experience if the goods had not been really well packed up in the UK they would not have survived the harsh treatment of unloading. I am going to see if I can contract a firm this end who comes which a good reference and do the same for the Oz side, rather than just assume that because we got a good service here the sub-contracters on the other side will deliver the same service. Its a lot of money to waste on trashed belongings and the insurance was not worth the effort of applying for as they asked for "before" photographs and original receips when will tried to get some money back. Of course we had neither - who thinks of taking picture evidence that your belongings were not broken when they went in the crate! Will next time though - for the expensive things. Good luck but please anyone who can help with reccommendations for the Auckland and further North area of NZ and the Perth end of OZ - I really cannot face the same scenario again. Please.

Hi,
I have used local company A D Customs at Albany on 3 occassions to move us overseas & & to move us back from Europe recently. They were excellent.

In Australia I used Wridgeways to ship stuff from Brisbane to Auckland, they were most reasonable & again excellent.

As far as I am aware excess have their sister co out in nz so it's really the same company doing it if you get me. Give some of them a ring and inquire. Excess. Do all
Over I believe!!!! Sorry maybe not much help.

The firm I delt with in the UK also described the NZ movers as their "sister company" when I shared my experience with the UK end they then said the NZ company really had nothing to do with their own business they just sub-contracted to them and could not share any responsibility. Just a word of warning as I would hate for anyone to experience what we did it was truely something out a rocky horror show. I don't think anyone would believe me if I described the move in day - I have never witnessed anything quite like it ever.

On a brighter note thank you so much to everone who has posted their helpful experience and I can now make a start on the whole relocation process again. I think I will start with some of the larger international companies first. It would be so much easier to sell up and start again but having our own belonging helped us settle in more quickly than we would have without all the familiar things of home. Thanks again everyone your advice has been a real help! Good luck to you all.

We are going with Allied Pickford who has offices both here in Singapore and NZ, so it'd be dealing with one same company on both ends which I prefer. We've heard good things about them; I'm sure they have offices in Oz too... You should check them out. Cheers.

We moved from London to Christchurch in October. Had the majority of a 40ft container. We brought everything minus our 2 cars. Had quite a bit of art, and some antiques included in the container. Allied Pickfords packed everything in London, over 2 days, then unpacked and assembled everything here in Christchurch. All that broke in the entire shipment, was a solitary wine glass, out of the 50 or so glasses we brought over. My partner had used Pickfords a dozen years ago in an International move, with similar results. We used an american company to insure everything for the move. Hat's off to Pickfords, they came up trumps for us.

Nayak is to avoid

Hello,
I have moved from Singapore to India with Nayak. As the boxes came in India and after these went through custom their people opened the boxes and stole content of them, although it was almost "no-value" things for an European person.
The boxes came simply partially opened and without the entire content. The insurance didn't pay any money. They pay only for total lost during the trip (accident with ship or airplane and destruction of the transported ware).
Nayak has refused any responsibility, although I had the evidences that they (their employees) were responsible for.

Better you hire a recommended company and please read very carefully what the insurance guarantees.

Did you by chance ship your stuff freight with them? How much did you ship and how much did it cost, if you don't mind me asking?

I have 11 boxes of stuff in a storage locker in the US. Once we are settled here, I may look into these movers of yours...
Thanks for listening, talk to you soon
-Kim

Shipping with Crown

Hi Kim, We shipped our entire condo contents. Required a 20FT High Cube L - 5.89M, W - 2.35M and H - 2.69M. We paid $15000 CAN (that included insurance) about 11-12K USA dollars. That was 2015.

Phone them in Wellington 0508 227 696 and ask for Debbie. She was the best. Tell her the Canadians in Napier recommended her.
