I would like to apply for South Africa citizenship by naturalization. Travel records of the past 5 yrs are required. Unfortunately, i lost my port in April 2018 which means i don't have any records prior to that date. How can i successful convince Dept of Home Affairs that i never left South Africa for more than 90 days in the past 5 yrs? Can i use an affidavit, employer's letter or bank statement at least to prove that i was around.

Something is telling me that those who will apply for Smart IDs will get their certificates first. what the minister said, " Only LAWFUL permanent residence permit holders can now apply for smart IDs". What are the implications of the word LAWFUL. I think this process is being used to people's PR status.

Info coming out of home affairs this week goes like...
'We have been busy issuing certificates for all people who completed induction in 2022. Now we're going to start issuing for people whose induction was in 2023'.
My question, anyone who completed induction in 2022 or any year before 2022 and you still don't have your certificate?
Maybe you should go to your office of application and ask why you haven't received your certificate yet.
Maybe they tried to call you and they just couldn't reach you!

Hey HB , I am still waiting for my decision and Induction and Certificate will probably take another few years ....
