What's canada like?

Things are getting seriously bad in the US and I do not feel safe here. I'm looking for places that might welcome me and my neighbor to the north is a possible route but I have never been to canada before and dont know what it's like.

Immigrants here are celebrated by few, tolerated by many, and demonized by a sizable chunk of our population. What's the acceptance like of immigrants in canada?

My work experience isn't great. I'm not rich and I've never held a powerful position. I've done IT helpdesk jobs in the past and have been doing it freelance for decades, but at the moment I'm just doing call center work from home for a medical insurance company. I would be willing to go after further education and training if offered. But I don't see how I could immigrate with my limited funds, unimpressive resume, and lack of connections.

My biggest concern is the politics there. I've heard that canada has been slipping to the right for years, falling for a lot of the propaganda spread in the US. The most recent election was way too close and I worry that you guys will end up with the same problems america has in the next election once the political strategy is tweaked a little. Am I misreading this whole thing?

Canada is cutting down on its immigrant program as they believe their somewhat liberal policies have increased migration to the point it no longer benefits the country.

If you have no special skills then getting a work visa is very unlikely.
